Munich Comprehensive Cancer Center (MCCC)

The Munich Comprehensive Cancer Center (MCCC) unites the oncology programs of Ludwig Maximilian University Hospital and University Hospital Rechts der Isar. This alliance brings together two of Germany’s leading university hospitals in a joint mission to advance cancer research and therapy.
The MCCC integrates 35 clinics and institutes and has been certified since 2014 as one of Germany’s 13 premier Comprehensive Cancer Centers by the German Cancer Society (DKG).

Interdisciplinary Breast Center (IBZ)

The Interdisciplinary Breast Center (IBZ), led by Prof. Dr. Marion Kiechle, Director of the Department of Gynecology, brings together multiple specialized units of University Hospital Rechts der Isar. The center provides comprehensive diagnosis and treatment for all breast conditions particularly breast cancer in close collaboration with departments of pathology, radiology, anesthesiology, surgery, internal medicine, and radiation oncology.
Weekly multidisciplinary tumor boards develop individualized treatment plans for breast cancer patients. Additionally, breast disease conferences are held three times per week to discuss diagnostic findings and therapeutic strategies for newly diagnosed or suspicious breast lesions.

  • Genetic testing and counseling for hereditary cancer syndromes
  • Gynecologic endocrinology: hormonal therapy, osteoporosis management
  • Surgical and systemic treatment of breast cancer

Skin Cancer Center

The certified Skin Cancer Center offers the full range of modern services from prevention and early detection to state-of-the-art treatment of skin malignancies. It diagnoses and treats all forms of skin tumors, including:

  • Basal cell carcinoma
  • Squamous cell carcinoma
  • Malignant melanoma
  • Cutaneous sarcomas (e.g., dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans, angiosarcoma, liposarcoma)
  • Merkel cell carcinoma
  • Cutaneous lymphomas (T-cell and B-cell)

The Interdisciplinary Working Group on Malignant Skin Tumors was established at Rechts der Isar in 2010. Since 2016, the Skin Cancer Center has been certified by the German Cancer Society (DKG) and is an integral component of the Munich Comprehensive Cancer Center (MCCC).
The Dermato-Oncology Unit at Rechts der Isar specializes in treating:

  • Malignant melanoma
  • Basal cell carcinoma
  • Squamous cell carcinoma and subcutaneous lymphoma
  • Mycosis fungoides and Sézary syndrome
  • Fibrohistiocytic tumors (e.g., dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans)
  • Merkel cell carcinoma
  • Malignant adnexal tumors (e.g., sweat gland carcinoma)
  • Malignant vascular tumors (e.g., Kaposi sarcoma, angiosarcoma)
